The Cheshire Fire Service
The Cheshire Fire Service do a fantastic job throughout the county. Here's a video reviewing the year 2012 showing just some of the truly horrific work the guys and gals have to cope with.
In my Inspector Walter Darriteau series of detective novels which are set in Chester (The Murder Diaries Seven Times Over and The Sound of Sirens) Walter is often called upon to work hand-in-glove with the Cheshire Fire Service.
Do look out too for the Cheshire Fire Service Choir who have been featured on national TV in the Gareth Malone programme where they performed a very moving rendition of Bruce Spingsteen's The Rising.
I don't have any video of the CFS performance but here is the boss himself performing his song dedcated to the New York Fire Department who lost so many brave men at the 9/11 terrorist attack. This was the live recording at Hyde Park in London.
